727 Engine Coffee Table
Out of ideas on what to get for Christmas this year? How about some vintage airplane parts?
This holiday, the aircraft manufacturer Boeing is putting up various parts from its old airplanes for sale. From business class seats to a coffee table refashioned from an engine, these parts were collected from retired airplanes, cleaned and finished before they are sold to the public.
Boeing’s director of brand management, James Newcomb, told Adweek that it is “recycling in the best sense”.
He said, “It’s amazing how quickly it sells. We have trouble keeping stuff in stock.”
Photography enthusiasts will also be happy to learn that the aerospace company has made its corporate gallery archive accessible to the public. This means now you get to own photographs of various airplane models at a reasonable price.
According to Adweek, Newcomb said the merchandising of vintage airplane parts and images “generates goodwill with the public, and no brand can have too much of that.”
He said, “If people can find something they love and interact with it, it helps bring home a personalized brand experience. We want to make sure that those people who are interested can have us in their lives.”
