Photographer Jamie Hawkseworth was recently commissioned by AnOther magazine to shoot the studio of famous Chinese artist Ai Weiwei in Beijing.
Offering us a glimpse into the life of the dissident-artist, the pictures show a sparsely furnished space that brought across a sense of melancholy that comes with being under constant surveillance.
From the policemen stationed outside to portraits of the artist himself, the photo series is a rare peek into Ai Weiwei’s life in the Chinese capital—more images can be found here.
