Russian photographer Marat Akhmetaleyev has caught some gorgeous images of the recent Chebarkul meteorite that ripped through the skies of Chelyabinsk.
The photographer was out on his usual shoot on a Friday morning when he noticed something was awry in the sky.
“My thoughts were confused and spontaneous. The first thing I thought was not a meteorite, but a nuclear bomb,” shared Akhmetaleyev.
Two minutes after the encounter with the meteorite, Akhmetaleyev remembered the explosions that followed the crash, leaving him shaking.
Akhmetaleyev’s rare encounter had brought stunning images of the 10,000-ton meteorite, which will be exhibited at Chelyabinsk State Museum titled ‘Space Wanderer: Eyewitness Testimony’ through 31 May 2013.
