A Rare Glimpse Into The Building Of New York City’s Subway





In a giant crater beneath Grand Central station, construction work for the New York MTA’s East Side Access project has been underway for nearly seven years now.



As an update to the public, the MTA has released images by photographer Patrick Cashin, that beautifully document the behind-the-scenes work of building this extension line.



The line is set to be completed in 2019, and these massive tunnels will traverse the length of the new Long Island Railroad (LIRR) line, connecting Sunnyside, Queens, to Grand Central Terminal.
