Mysterious, Impossible Staircases Appear In Mid-Air

‘Beautiful Steps’ is a series of exotic staircase installations by Swiss artists Lang/Baumann.

From the Trautenfels Castle in Austria and buildings in Switzerland, to Parisian art gallery Galerie Loevenbruck and Buenos Aires museum Fundación PROA—the duo have built mysterious flights of stairs everywhere that, most of the time, don’t belong.

Though most can’t be walked on, the impossible staircases appear to float in mid-air or form strange walkways leading you wonder in awe—“where do they lead?”
