Maine-based map-making and GPS company DeLorme constructed a huge scale replica of the earth, which has held the Guinness record for the “World’s Largest Revolving/Rotating Globe” since 1991.
Measuring 41 feet and 1.5 inches, the massive globe—named “Eartha”—is built with more than 6000 lightweight aluminum tubing and 792 map sections.
Housed in a stunning glass atrium at DeLorme’s headquarters in Yarmouth, Eartha represents earth as it is seen from space—spotting it from a nearby highway will certainly be a wonderful experience.
“Every continent is beautifully detailed, with vivid colors illustrating all levels of vegetation, major roadways and cities. Ocean depths are also completely represented.”
