Expressive, Realistic Portraits Made With Countless Tiny Black Dots

Spanish artist Pablo Jurado Ruiz uses labor-intensive Pointilism techniques to create incredibly detailed and expressive portraits that have a fascinating life-life quality.

By carefully and strategically drawing little black dots, he is able to create gradients of black and grey that bring out an amazing array of rich details, personality and emotions in his subjects.

Often featuring children in his work, the artist states that he wants to “talk about love, disappointment, nature, childhood…and I show it in a glance, a gesture, or a detail as if it were a metaphor of life”.
