Artist and researcher Nickolay Lamm has some new work that is a simple mix of research and visualization combined into one.
In this new series of work, he shows how shirtless Americans look when standing next to people from other countries.
Comparing the body mass indexes (BMI) of men from the U.S, Japan, the Netherlands, and France, based on government data from each of the countries, he created a digital rendering of men from each country standing next to each other.
The average middle-aged man in the U.S. has a BMI of 29, while in Japan, men have an average of a 23.7 BMI.
