Nobumichi Asai visualizes the idea of “digital make-up” for us through his work with Omote, a program that combines real-time face tracking and projection mapping to create a “mask” over a model’s face.
The concept is similar to the way images are projected onto buildings and other flat surfaces.
With Omote, the model’s face acts as a canvas—as the program projects a series of colors and patterns onto her face, it seems as if her facial features were physically altered instantly.
