Brooklyn-based artist Ted Lawson has created a life-sized portrait of himself using blood.

The portrait was rendered using a CNC (computer numerical control) machine—similar to a three-dimensional printer—with Ted hooked up on an intravenous that feeds fresh blood simultaneously as the machine was drawing.

His portrait, along with two large-scale drawings created in the same technique and other sculptural artworks, will be on exhibit at the Joseph Gross Gallery on 11 September 2014.
