Architects Design A Pavilion With A Vertical Garden That Has 50 Plants

For the Milan Expo in 2015, New York design firm Biber Architects has designed an impressive barn-like building with a vertical garden for the pavilion.

Called ‘American Food 2.0, United to Feed the Planet’, the architecture of the pavilion was inspired by the classic American barn, boardwalk and food trucks.

A major attribute of the pavilion is its vertical garden on one side of the building, which is filled with plants from all 50 US states. The plants grow on a hydroponic system and the idea was based on the expo’s “Feed the Planet, Energy for Life” theme.

Within the pavilion itself is a panoramic terrace, a café, an auditorium and an inner courtyard. Food trucks will also be parked around the building for visitors to enjoy.

According to the architects, they “intend to show just how engaged the US is in global food security, food innovation and has become a center for the best food on the planet”.
