If you are staying as a guest at the Aloft Hotel in California, you will soon be greeted with a robotic butler at your door.

Dubbed as the world’s first robotic butler, the ‘A.L.O Botlr’, or ‘Botlr’ for short, is a new roving machine that helps the Starwood-owned hotel’s concierge to assist its guests with simple requests, like replenishing their amenities.

When a guest calls the front desk asking for fresh towels, the concierge staff will load the Botlr with the requested items before updating its interface with the guest’s details.

The Botlr automatically proceeds to the guest’s room, and sends a call to alert the guest once it arrives at the door. Instead of tipping the robot, guests are encouraged to send their feedback via the hashtag, #meetbotlr.

Look out for Botlr’s first day at work at the Aloft Hotel on 20 August 2014. If it passes the pilot program, you may be served with similar robotic butlers in other Aloft Hotels starting next year.
