Looks like photographer Benjamin Von Wong isn’t just a talented shutterbug—he recently surprised a chronically sick fan on his birthday by showing up on his doorstep in a box.

A year ago, Australian Tyler Grace had written to Von Wong, telling the photographer how his work had inspired him to take up photography.

Grace suffers from fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and nerve damage, and has been in and out of hospital constantly.

In February this year, Grace’s sister Bianca sent Von Wong a message asking him if he would record a ‘Happy Birthday’ video for his 21st birthday.

The photographer decided to make Grace’s birthday extra special by flying to his hometown of Albury to surprise the stunned fan.

After the two met, Von Wong held a photo shoot for Grace and Bianca at a lake, and brought him on a canoe trip and to the rodeo.

Watch the birthday surprise in the video below, and read Von Wong’s account of the entire experience on his blog.
