Portraits Of Dogs Juxtaposed With Famous Writers

Ernest Hemingway

Italian photographer Dan Bannino, whom we have previously featured, has a new series called ‘Poetic Dogs’ featuring portraits of dogs juxtaposed with famous writers.

Bannino was inspired by his dog Rothko which he adopted from a shelter a year ago, and has started an Indiegogo campaign to raise awareness of dogs in need around the world. The items include limited edition prints, a book and a calendar.

“Most of these dogs suffered hunger, sickness, loneliness and are still giving their blessings to every human being they see, in the same way a lot of great artists did in the past, leaving us the treasure and legacy of their rare art,” said Bannino.

He is posting a photograph of a dog and its story each day to his Instagram account and Facebook page.

View some images below and head over to Indiegogo to pledge for the project.

Charles Bukowski
