Watch: Amazon’s Robots Shipping Lots Of Holiday Orders

We all know that online retail giant Amazon sells an astounding number of products and ships them all over the world—this year, on the Monday following Thanksgiving, or “Cyber Monday”, sales at the company hit 426 items per second.

To improve the handling of such massive orders and make operation more efficient, Amazon invested US$775 million in 2012 on robots made by Kiva Systems—these small but strong helpers is able to lift 700-pound shelves filled with goods and transport them to human employees for processing.

Photographer and videographer Stephen Wilkes caught these amazing robots in action for an exclusive short film for TIME magazine—according to Amazon Senior Vice President of Operations Dave Clark, these robots have made life easier for employees by cutting out much of the hard “picking” work.

Watch Wilkes’ video below—what do you think of these bright orange robots that scurry along inside the vast Amazon warehouses? Read more about them here.
