We are used to seeing robots helping humans with various everyday tasks in sci-fi movies, but reality has failed to keep up, until now—robotics company Robodynamics has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of its Luna personal robot.
Designed to bring robots to the masses, Luna’s creator has described it as the “first evolutionary step in a near-future where robots become a normal part of everyday human life”.
According to Robodynamics, Luna’s capabilities is only limited by its user’s imagination—it has an open, standard and affordable platform that would allow developers and entrepreneurs to expand on what it can possibly achieve.
For instance, the human-scale Luna, with its "powerful computer, hi def camera, capacitive touch screen LCD and many other features", would be able to keep an eye on elderly who are living alone, and replace human beings in potentially dangerous tasks—of course, it can also help you to walk your dog and clean the house.
You would be able to own your own Luna robot by pleading US$999 on Kickstarter now—find out more about it in the video below.
