A couple of days ago, tech giant Apple was awarded a patent for a wearable camera that is supposedly better than the devices made by GoPro, which is currently the leading brand in the action camera market.
According to Cult of Mac, Apple received a series of 34 patents that are related to “a camera system that can be mounted to helmets and scuba masks and controlled remotely”—what is noteworthy is that the patent also cites specific weaknesses in the GoPro cameras.
Using some of the technology that it purchased from Eastman Kodak in 2013, Apple’s newly patented camera system can also record video and sound underwater.
The news of Apple’s new patent caused the shares of GoPro to plummet about 15% on the day it was released—what do you think of Apples potential new action camera?
