Every wondered what Facebook would be like in the ’90s?
Comedian Brent Weinbach has created a hilarious ad that imagines if the social networking website—winkingly referred to here as “The Facebook”—had existed back then.
In the ad, a guy recites the website’s features to his friend, spouting awesomely surreal lines like “How about just clicking on your mom’s profile and saying ‘Happy Birthday?’ It’s the same thing as sending her a package”, and “Simply ship a few photographs to The Facebook, they’ll cover the postage, and an operator will set up your profile.”
If you’re a reader of a certain age, you’ll realize the video is a parody of an AOL (America Online) commercial from 1995.
With the bad lettering, ubiquitous soundtrack and smooth salesman voiceover, the video gets the look and feel of the era down pat.
