Based in Los Angeles, artist and photographer Christine McConnell is known for her unconventional photo projects—most recently, she has created a series of “before-and-after” pictures where she recreates vintage photographs of the female ancestors on her mother’s side.

Dressing herself up in the styles of the various eras as reflected in the original photos, she has managed to produce incredibly faithful replicate pictures that shows the resemblances between her and these women from the past.

Posing as her great-great-great grandmother to her mother, McDonnell’s side-by-side comparisons of the old and new photos are a very interesting way to create a visual timeline of her family.
