Curious to find out how individuals experience and perceive the spaces and environments they are in, Slovenian architect and yoga instructor Anja Humljan created a photo book, titled ‘The Urban Yoga’.
Collaborating with photographers Jaka Vinšek, Emilio P. Doiztua, Primož Lukežič and Antoine Le Grand, the book displays stunning yoga poses in urban settings at New York, Paris, Madrid and Slovenia.
She wrote: “As far as the poses are concerned, my aim was to connect, intertwine and mimic the urban space, so that the photos functioned as a metaphor for the fact that while moving through space, we subconsciously mimic and measure spatial configuration.”
As of writing, the project has already surpassed its US$10,000 goal on Kickstarter, with 15 hours to go before its closing.
Humljan added, “Sometimes we feel like the urban environment limits our freedom, causes stress, and disturbs our inner peace. But only few people know that it is not geometry and function, but what we touch, smell, taste and hear that defines most whether we feel good or bad in an urban environment.”
