Chicago-based artist Scott Carter uses unconventional materials to create his installation art—dry wall and wood cut directly from the walls of the gallery.

Forging a powerful link between the sculptures and furniture he produces and the space in which they are exhibited, the artist’s unique technique also creates an intriguing, cut-out backdrop for the artworks.

After developing a digital prototype and translating it into the various components needed to put together the art piece, Carter will then cut out these components from the gallery walls and begin construction.

The artist’s current show is exhibited at the Beers.Lambert Gallery in London until 26 January 2013.
