A team of researchers—led by UCLA biomolecular engineer Yunfeng Lu and USC molecular biologist and biochemist Cheng Ji—have come up with a way to reduce blood alcohol levels (and increase alcohol metabolism) through a novel drug.
The research ‘Nature Nanotechnology’ features nontoxic, nanoscale polymer shells—that contain enzymes—that mimic the body’s natural way of processing alcohol, to quickly reduce blood alcohol levels.
Currently, the Nanocapsules are still being tested.
But if successful, we can soon get our drink on without getting drunk.
