The Guardian Offers A Free View From London’s Tallest Building

The Guardian has launched an online app that gives visitors a free 360-degree view from London’s tallest building, The Shard.

The app opens with a film intro that takes the viewer into the lift of The Shard, up to viewing platform on the 68th floor.

Upon reaching the virtual platform, viewers can scroll around, zoom in and click on various sound, story and landmark tags on the screen.

Each tag features information about a specific landmark or building—such as the Tower Bridge, The London Eye and Big Ben; there are even sounds of the city to sample, allowing viewers to listen to birds chirping, voices in a busy market place and the sound of the wind blowing.

There is also an option to change the image from daytime to dusk—adding an interesting new perspective to the app.
