US artist and actor Mark Landis is a master art forger who has been creating fake copies of famous artworks and donating them to churches and museums around US for decades—his reason was that it doesn't matter to people if the thing they were seeing is real, so why should they care if the works are original.
Landis who has been diagnose with schizophrenia, works under a guise of a rich donor and a philanthropist—even though his activities were uncovered, he has not been convicted of any crime based on the fact that he had only given these fake paintings and artworks away as gifts.
He was only called out on his actions 20 years later, when someone realized that a painting he was attempting to give away was previously donated elsewhere under the same fake name—while he enjoys seeing his fake works on display in major museums, he has also created and sold original paintings of his own.
