A group of UNT communication design graduates have started a creative project that brings children’s imaginative drawings of monsters and creatures to “life”.
Named the ‘Monster Project’, the team hopes to “help children recognize the power of their own imaginations” by showing them how their drawings can spark new ideas among artists.
To do this, the team roped in various illustrators and designers to recreate and interpret these monster drawings, all made by elementary students, in their own artistic styles before presenting the redrawn pieces to the students.
“As artists ourselves, we understand how important that initial creative exposure is and how it can truly alter the shape of a child’s future… we hope to help them recognize the value of their ideas and make them feel excited about the potential of their own minds,” wrote the team.
For their project this year, the team has managed to work with over 100 artists from around the world to produce a collection of impressive reworked artworks.
