3D-Printed Text Documents With Pop-Up Words That Form Real Cityscapes

Textscape: New York City (Central Park portion perspective)

Based in Hawaii, Chinese artist Hongtao Zhou has recently created fascinating artworks that recreated real cityscapes, such as those of New York City and Shanghai, with 3D-printed words that pop off the flat page to look like miniature skyscrapers.

Titled ‘Textscapes’, the artist used a 3D printer to create “worded documents” filled with blocks of letters that resemble tall buildings when viewed from strategic perspectives.

What do you think of his creative experiments with the 3D-printer?

Check out his work in the images below, or head here to read more about his project.
