Talented 16 years old Malaysian artist Yap Hanzhen has created a collection of wonderfully detailed sketches of places he has visited.
Diagnosed with autism at the age of two, his mother Yvonne told The Straits Times that she and her husband would give Hanzhen a sketchbook and pencil to express himself—they also taught him speech and reading by pairing words with thumbnail sketches.
Using his incredible photographic memory, Hanzhen is able to remember every detail of his subject in his mind for up to 24 hours—these sketches could take up to six days to complete, or three days for the easier ones.
He has currently drawn a total of 407 sketches in just three-and-a-half years, and aspires to be an artist and a musician when he graduates from school.
