Since we last featured Brooklyn-based sculptor
Nina Levy’s
awesome illustrations on her sons’ lunch napkins, the creative mom has been hard at work churning out more drawings, which she documents under the Instagram handle ‘
@dailynapkins’.
Using watercolor paints and a black Sharpie, she creates fantastic illustrations on plain white napkins that blend together pop culture characters.
When she first started out in 2006, her two sons Archer and Ansel would use the napkins to wipe their hands and clean themselves, but these days they take on a more decorative purpose.
The loving mom spends one to two hours every night on her drawings, and views them as a symbol of her love for her children as well as a fun project.
“I view them as a sort of compulsory nightly drawing practice, an enforced pop culture update, and, in my most pretentious moments, a form of sustained performance art,” she told
Instagram Blog.

Over the weekend, I realized that there was only one week left of school and there had been no seasonally themed napkins. I had noticed that the most popular napkin as far as web traffic goes recently is one with the Minions dressed up for Christmas... And given that we will probably have to see the upcoming Minions movie I should probably do another holiday Minions napkin....The Minions lend themselves to endless costuming and mashups. (google "minions mashup" if you doubt, or have nothing better to do) Not so much for Rocket and Groot. They seem a little annoyed by the decorations and the substitution of candy cane for weapon. #marvel #marvelmovies #marvelsuperheroes #rocketraccoon #rocketandgroot #groot #dailynapkins #napkinart #fanart #mashup #holidayspirit #christmastree #christmasdecorations #christmasmashup #christmas
