Unsure of when to use an exclamation mark? HubSpot has created a handy, tongue-in-cheek flowchart that shows you when you should break out this bold punctuation mark.
Some factors to consider include whether the subject you’re exclaiming about is hugely important (if so, words are better); if it’s extremely exciting (avoid using exclamation marks anyway); and if it’s an actual emergency (if you or someone else is on fire, go ahead and use ‘!’).
