A 32-year-old self-taught photographer, Tao Liu, is making waves in China with his clever shots.
Working as a water meter reader in Hefei, a city in Eastern China, he wakes up at 8:30am and makes his way through the city on his motorbike, recording water usage.
He discovered the works of Japanese big name photographer Daido Moriyama, which inspired him to pick up photography. Armed with a Fujifilm X100, Liu would develop his interest on lunch breaks and journeys home, capturing witty images on the streets.
Liu found fame late last year when his interesting shots went viral on Chinese social networks and mainstream media outlets in the country.
Liu said he likes taking photos of scenes that catch his attention but are often missed by many. He also hopes to “remind people of the touching moments in life” through his photography.
