The pour-over method of brewing coffee is getting increasingly popular—this may be due to how it supposedly produces a more customisable and flavorful cup of coffee.
However, to enjoy a pour-over, you may have to wait in line for quite a while as it is also a more time-consuming method that requires the barista to be very precise with the various elements of the process.
To speed up this process, Brooklyn-based Poursteady has developed a machine that is able to brew five cups at the same time, with each cup taking only about a minute to be ready—this app-controlled machine still requires a human being to operate it, to make sure that it is brewing to specifications.
The first Poursteady prototypes are already in select coffee shops around New York City, and it is set to launch at the Specialty Coffee Association of America in April 2015.
