Portland-based creative director Ian Collins has a fun creative project where he adds funny captions to photographs from news stories.
Uploading his creations to his blog,—named “The Big Caption”—Collins uses attractive typographic styles to bring his messages across.
The project is designed as a complement to Boston.com’s “The Big Picture, “wherein jokes and statements are made with typography”.
Pairing tongue-in-cheek captions with images from serious news events,—such as political protests and violent riots—he provides a lighter, humorous and sometimes absurd perspectives from which to view these heavy topics.
