When going on a particularly scary roller coaster, we tend to tell ourselves that it is just an amusement park ride and everything is going to be alright in the end—that would not apply to the “Euthanasia Coaster” designed by Lithuanian architect Julijonas Urbonas.
Devised as a way to let people kill themselves in “a painless and euphoric way”, this deadly roller coaster features an extremely steep drop that is followed by six high-speed loops that would exert about 10 G’s of force on its riders.
The enormous amount of force experienced while going through the loops for 60 seconds would serve to deprive the brain of blood and the essential nutrients and oxygen in it—this should effectively kill everyone on the roller coaster in a “pleasing, elegant and meaningful” manner.
According to to Urbonas, riders would have a last chance to reconsider their decision to end it all at the top of the roller coaster tower, although it is unclear how they are going to get off.
What do you think about this highly controversial concept design?
