A Five Star Hotel Disguised As A Shanty Town

Located in South Africa, the Emoya Estate does not look like a typical five star hotel as it looks like a shanty town.

Although fashioned like one, these corrugated metal huts have electricity, running water, and even WiFi. There are also refrigerators in the rooms, and the beds look quite comfortable as well.

There is also a communal fireplace with chairs made out of rubber tyres, and guests also have the option of using the outdoor toilet as it is part of the “African experience”.

To stay in this resort, guests have to pay approximately US$80 per night, which is slightly more than the monthly wage of a South African domestic worker.

It is unsurprising that this establishment has angered many, with the media calling it tasteless, insensitive and offensive.

What do you think—is this a creative idea gone wrong?
