Italian designers Marco Calabrese and Alessandro Scali have brought 21st century technology back to the past with this Giphoscope.
Inspired by the Mutoscopes of the 19th century, which worked like flipbooks, these devices created animations made of images that rotated around a central wheel.
These Giphoscopes are made in a similar manner, with 24 images rotating around an aluminium core that is fitted to a wooden base. Users turn a handle to make the animation come to life.
Each model costs UK£251 and takes seven to 10 days to make. Customers send a digital copy of the GIF they want to see on the machine.
