Everyday Things Get Cheekily Redesigned To Make You Uncomfortable

Design is usually about improving things, and making things better and more efficient.

With tongue-firmly-in-cheek, ‘The Uncomfortable’ is an aptly-titled, ongoing sadistic project—by Athens-based architect and 3D modeler Katerina Kamprani—that opposes the de rigueur function of design, in a bid to redesign everyday things with a twist, rendering them almost useless but still usable.

From a furry plate and a spiky wineglass, to a bowl with a hole and an inversed Oreo cookie, the redesigned objects still maintain the semiotics of the original item, but makes one feel awkward.

However uncomfortable though, Kamprani’s series definitely fits in comfortably with the surrealist movement—where artists often create illogical scenes or things.
