Touching Photos Of The Lingering Moments Of Owners And Their Pets

Minneapolis-based pet photographer, Sarah Beth, has a knack for capturing the adorable antics of cats and dogs in her studio, but her series “Joy Sessions” covers the other end of the emotional spectrum.

The heartbreaking series features pets that suffer from declining health or old age, and don’t have many days left to live. The pets are captured in poignant, black-and-white photographs together with their owners, in their homes or at Beth’s studio.

Beth uses film to immortalize the animals’ quirks and expressions, and the loving interactions they have with their owners. Her photographs are testament to the wholehearted bond that animals can share with human beings.

“Often, when I see them again for their ordering session, the animal has passed, and these images may be all they have left to remember them. I have plenty of tissues at the studio, because tears will inevitably be shed while we go through everything together,” says Beth.
