In Madrid, Spain, a creative effort by PKMN Architects and Taller de Casqueria has resulted in an urban project titled Hypertube.
Created from six precast reinforced concrete tubes that are two meters in diameter and two and a half meters in length each, these repurposed tubes have been given a new lease of life.
These tubes allow people of all ages to stand inside, and makes for a place where neighbours and passers-by can go to.
Hypertube is a part of an urban redevelopment project ongoing in Madrid to transform lower income neighborhoods with contemporary art.
These creative efforts include sculptures, structures, and murals. It has recently been rolled out in various parts of the city.
