Award-winning Estonian photographer Kaupo Kikkas came across a peculiar sight in the middle of the Sinai Desert in Egypt—an abandoned outdoor cinema that looks all set to start screening movies.
This out-of-place entertainment venue is the brainchild of an eccentric Frenchman who thought that it would be a great idea to have a cinema in the middle of the desert—he set up the necessary infrastructure and hauled in a generator to provide electricity for his ambitious enterprise.
Unfortunately, the local authorities did not seem to be very supportive about his project and on the premier evening, “everything went ‘accidentally’ wrong”—not a single film was ever screened at this “end of the world” theatre.
View more images of this abandoned structure below—we think that it would be a great set for a post-apocalyptic movie.
