FIFA has unveiled the official emblem for the 2018 World Cup, which will be hosted by Russia.
The emblem first made its debut on board the International Space Station with the help of Russian cosmonauts, and was simultaneously complemented by a laser light show in Moscow.
Designed by Portuguese brand consulting agency Brandia Central, the emblem was inspired by “Russia’s rich artistic tradition and its history of bold achievement and innovation”.
It takes on the outline of the iconic World Cup trophy and is colored red and blue, colors of the Russian flag, with gold accents.
According to the Associated Press, FIFA President Sepp Blatter said that the logo represented the “heart and spirit” of Russia.
