According to a new study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, your Facebook posts can be a rather accurate indicator of your personality.
Visualized in a series of word clouds, the huge cluster of words in the middle consists of terms that are commonly used in Facebook posts, while the surrounding green clusters are made up of words that are usually used together in a single status update.
For example, introverts are more likely to use words like ‘Internet’, ‘computer’ and ‘read’ when updating their Facebook statuses. Their extroverted counterparts tend to have more outgoing posts that usually acknowledge the presence of others, like ‘party’, ‘blast’, ‘love!’ and ‘amazing’.
The study involved analyzing status updates from more than 66,000 Facebook users, who have also used a third-party personality quiz app. Results are assessed according to five aspects of relatively stable personality traits—extroversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness and neuroticism.
