Have you thought of building a stained glass car or creating shoes with built-in GPS that guide you back home? Welcome to the world of British artist and inventor, Dominic Wilcox.

In this film titled ‘The Reinvention of Normal’ by filmmaker Liam Saint-Pierre, we get a glimpse into the mind of this brilliant, quirky inventor who has delighted many for years with his whimsical, impractical ideas.

The short video is a documentary profile of Wilcox, featuring home video footage of Wilcox, animations of his whimsical ideas, and with the camera following him into hardware stores and meeting his parents. His recent inventions include the ‘Binaudios’, a giant listening device that looks like tourist binoculars but function to listen to the sounds of a city.

Watch the short film below, and be inspired by Wilcox's artistic inventions. Wilcox has also published a book called Variations on Normal, which is available here.
