Starting with a blank map, the GIF below charts the building of the various NYC subway lines in the order that they were added to the system.
Created by Appealing Industries, New York City residents will be able to see how each part of the subway system came into existence and track the history of the city.
Although all 34 lines are represented in the map below, covering 150 years of construction of 468 stations, some more recent additions, like the Second Avenue Subway, is missing.
