Last month, we featured renowned freelance designer, letterer and illustrator Jessica Hische’s useful advice about how much you should charge for creative work—now, we would like to highlight her very clever tips on becoming more efficient with your email.
After struggling to handle her “tumultuous relationship with [her] inbox”, Hische finally found a system that allowed her to keep her unread emails to under 20 at all times—and she has very generously shared it with in an article so that you can “unbury yourself from massive piles of email” too.
For instance, she suggests that you schedule an “Administrative Mondays”, which is the only day of the week that paperwork could be done—this would help to free up more time for billable creative work.
Another really great tip is to download all your emails and answer them at a venue where there is no Wi-Fi—this helps to reduce the time-wasting distractions that comes with an internet connection.
