For his on-going project ‘Persona’, Atlanta-based photographer Jason Travis explores the idea of what the things we carry say about us.
Travis started his series in November 2007 as a way of knowing his friends better, not just by taking their picture, but by focusing on the items they brought out with them.
Each image is a composite, with the top half featuring a portrait of a person while the bottom half showcases the objects they can’t live without.
They offer a voyeuristic glimpse into each person’s items, which are “usually tucked away in bags and pockets.”
