In a touching display of solidarity in support of women rights, men in Turkey have taken to the streets wearing miniskirts to protest violence against women.
The protest took place in Istanbul over the last weekend, and was a reaction to the tragic and brutal murder of 20 year old student Ozgecan Aslan, who was killed after resisting an attempted rape.
In addition to the street protest, Turkish men have also used social media to spread their message—they use the hashtag “#ozgecanicinminietekgiy”, which translates as “wear a miniskirt for Ozgecan”, posting pictures of themselves in miniskirts.
