Apple’s senior vice president of design Sir Jonathan Ive together with fellow industrial designer Marc Newson, have created a one-of-a-kind camera for Leica.
Unveiled by the German camera manufacturer on Twitter, ‘The Leica M for (RED)’ is based on the Leica M digital 35-mm full-frame camera.
It features an anodized aluminium body, a full-format CMOS sensor, a high-performance processor, and a Leica APO Summicron –M 50-mm f/2 ASPH lens.
The Leica M for (RED) took the duo 85 days to create—with about 561 models and 1,000 prototype parts made, before the design was finalized.
On 23 November, the camera will be auctioned to benefit The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
