The Thorncrown Chapel, located near Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is a beautiful and unexpected sanctuary found among tall trees.
Designed by architect E. Fay Jones, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, this non-denominational wooden chapel is open to anyone who wants to use it, whether for weddings, Sunday services or just a quiet spot to think.
Raising majestically into the forest canopy, it stands at a soaring 48 feet—it also features 425 windows and over 6,000 square feet of glass in its construction.
This award-winning design reflects the philosophy of “organic architecture” that advocates a harmonious relationship between human habitation and the natural world—it has been in service as a celebration space for over 30 years now.
Having welcomed more than six million people in this time, the chapel still looks fresh and progressive today with its criss-crossing beams and bright blue pews.
