An App That Sends Sarcastic Replies To Sexts, Helps Ward Off Sexual Predators

The Ontario Provincial Police has come up with a novel way to help teenagers fend off would-be sexual predators with ‘Send This Instead’, an app that sends sarcastic replies in response to sexts.

The app apparently offers 57 “humorous and sarcastic” replies to those who ask for naked pictures, and also features a link to report sexual harassment.

Some examples include “Sorry, just in the middle of something... Can I reject you later?” and “That would violate both my data and dating plans, neither of which include you.”

Inspector Scott Naylor of the department’s sex crimes unit acknowledged that the app won’t solve the issue of sexting, but added it provides youngsters with “an alternative strategy to deal with it.”
