San Francisco-based photographer Caren Alpert has created some unique fine art that are actually photographs of food taken with electron microscopes.
Consisting of close-up shots of common food items like table salt, a celery leaf, a pop tart and even a fortune cookie, they certainly do not look like pictures of food.
Alpert wanted to show the little seen side of food—like their unique landscapes, patterns, and textures that will evoke an entirely different response from the viewer.
